From a site that advertised to a platform that converts
Colabora Empresa is the most active B2B networking group in Marbella and on the Costa del Sol, with monthly industry events for real estate, construction and design. Its previous website did the job of a business card, but it wasn’t built to support the platform’s growth or to attract qualified traffic from Google.
The brief was clear: rewrite the entire site with a new structure built around the three key industries, improve visibility in local searches (Spanish searches such as “networking Marbella” and “eventos empresariales Costa del Sol”) and lay a solid technical foundation for growth with a blog, events and a job board.
A note on transparency. The screenshot of the previous version comes from the public Wayback Machine archive (snapshot of July 15, 2025). You can see what the site looked like before the redesign on web.archive.org.
Same brand, a new conversation with visitors

One design decision drove everything: organize by industry
Colabora Empresa doesn’t bring together “businesses” in the abstract: it brings together real estate agencies, construction firms and interior designers. The new site reflects that from the very first screen. The navigation, the home page, the landing pages and the CTAs are organized around the client’s three real verticals.
Industry-based structure
Three clear paths from the menu: Real Estate and Investment, Construction and Architecture, Design and Interior Design. Each one has its own landing page and semantic URL.
Clean visual hierarchy
A two-weight type system, a consistent scale and plenty of white space. No decorative animation: every block has a job to do in the conversion.
Honest social proof
Real figures (attendees, companies, events) built into the content. Charity events are highlighted as part of the brand’s identity.
Decisions you can see, and also feel when using the site
The visual system was built on a consistent grid and reusable components for each industry that the client can maintain without new design work every time an event is added. That keeps maintenance costs down and the brand consistent.
The mobile menu, the events slider and the forms were redesigned with a focus on accessibility: AA contrast, a minimum tap area of 44 px, visible keyboard focus and support for reduced motion.
SEO and speed: the work you don’t see, but Google does
A beautiful redesign is useless if the site is slow to load or if Google can’t understand its structure. We rewrote the WordPress theme from scratch so it includes only the code it needs and leaves everything else out.
What it means for the business
- Fast loading on mobile. Photos are only as heavy as each screen needs, and the ones not yet in view aren’t downloaded. With no visual page builders, the page loads only the code it actually uses.
- Google understands what each page is. Each event is marked up as an event, with its date and venue, and each industry has its own address (
/sector/inmobiliario/). That way Google can show them as such in search results. - It looks right when shared, and it’s secure. A link shared on WhatsApp or LinkedIn shows its title and image, and the browser never displays the “not secure” warning.
See the technical detail (12 points)
- Custom WordPress theme, with no heavy page builders: just semantic HTML and the project’s own CSS.
- Responsive images with
srcsetand multiple sizes for mobile, tablet and desktop. - Complete meta tags:
title, description, canonical, Open Graph and Twitter Card on every template. - Lang and locale declared (
es-ES) for correct regional indexing. - Schema.org for Organization, Event, BreadcrumbList and Article.
- XML sitemap generated and submitted to Google Search Console.
- Robots.txt kept clean, without blocking resources that are critical for rendering.
- Semantic URLs:
/sector/inmobiliario/,/eventos/,/blog/. - Lazy loading (
loading="lazy") for images outside the viewport. - Preconnect to fonts and CDN to reduce time to first paint.
- HTTPS + HSTS, with an automatically renewed certificate.
- Industry-based internal linking between landing pages, blog and events.
Local search built in from the start
Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara, Nueva Andalucía, Benahavís and the Costa del Sol appear naturally in the content, in the H1 headings, in the meta tags and in the schema. This is what we call geo-anchoring: helping Google understand not only what the site is about, but where it operates. It’s the same technical foundation we use in our custom web design work.

The site isn’t the end of the project. It’s the starting line
After delivery, we continue to support Colabora Empresa with content publishing (industry blog, event pages, stories from member companies), Core Web Vitals monitoring and regular reviews of its Google rankings in Google Search Console.
The twelve-month goal is to establish colaboraempresa.es as the organic answer to Spanish searches such as “networking empresarial Marbella”, “eventos inmobiliarios Costa del Sol” and “networking constructoras Málaga”, where today the competition is generic directories with no industry context.
